The artists grew up with the best of THREE worlds: The culture, traditions and zest for life of Panama;  the American influence due to the Panama Canal;  the flavor of the Caribbean “Gold Coast”.   Alex Reyes at 6 foot 4 and barely 170 pounds is obviously “Slim.” He is the driving force of the band and fills the roles of lead singer and guitarist on stage. He and David Seitz, “Shorty“, started the band in 1990 and things have been going uphill ever since. David plays lead guitar, sings background vocals and acts as the straight man when bantering with Alex between songs.

SHORTY&SLIM have released five albums and two singles with Alex and David doing all the writing, arranging, and producing; not bad for a building contractor and a science teacher. They have a cult following of all ages and cultures in Panama and the U.S., and all of their gigs are well attended by their loyal fans.

The quintet is rounded out by:  Rowland “Ro-Ro” Folse on Bass Guitar, an icon on the Canal Zone band scene since 1967:  “Grooven” Ruben Martinez on keyboards, a man who has played every Hotel and Church in the metropolitan area, whether with a band or as a solist;  and Chorrera’s finest percussionist and citizen, Omar “OMG” (O-Mar-Gawd!) Dominguez.
